Experimenting with new materials

We enjoy trying new materials and being inspired by them!

Paper-making T.R. showed us how to create two-dimensional paper art with dryer lint, leaves, and feathers

and three-dimensional pieces with paper pulp pressed into molds. We painted the finished, dried molded pieces with acrylic paints.

Printmaking

Monotype These images were done using Createx Monotype paints. First we painted Plexiglas with a primer made by Createx (we could have used dishwashing soap  instead) to make a surface for the paints to stick to. Next, we painted images on the Plexiglas, using drawings or photos under the Plexi as guides. After the paints dried, we pressed wet paper over the dried paints to remove our images.

Styrofoam prints After drawing with pencils into small sheets of styrofoam, we rolled block-printing inks over the foam, then pressed paper over the ink to create these images.
